Stage 1: The tour starts at the mountain station "Gandegg" at the Lauchernalp ski resort and heads towards the glacier "Milibachgletscher" and onwards up to the Hockenhorn. As an option you can also take the Gletscherbahn gondola directly to the Hockenhorngrat. From here you will enjoy a fantastic view over the surrounding Valais and Bernese mountain panorama before setting out for the Lötschenpass Hut. Refuel at the Lötschenpass Hut for the next stage of this tour.

Stage 2: In the second stage, climb from the Lötschenpass Hut up to the Gitzifurggu and then savour the long descent to Leukerbad.

Author’s recommendation

Lötschenpass Hut:
Come to the first “Minergie” mountain hut in the Alps, savour the view across the Valais peaks, let the hut team to pamper you, discover nature all around the lodge, stay in spacious dormitory rooms, gaze at the stars in the suites - and come back again.
